Openings

So, this opens friday.

It has been a test of my love for theatre, for sure.
The show has been time consuming, frustrating and has taken a toll on my self image.

Having 3 people play the same part tempts comparison and i feel those weighing me down.
Being the only one who hasnt performed this show at least once before has been frustrating.
This community theatre group is so very political. more so than i thought. Hence, even more frustration and self- doubt.
i'm not one of them.
odd lady out.

However.
I love what i do.
and even a difficult experience on stage is still experience.

I hope i see some of you there.
I feel like i have some tremendous things to overcome.
and we really do have a pretty decent show.

i vow to jump the hurdles and leave my discomfort backstage.

i'll have fun.
and perform the hell out of the narrator.

so with that:

lights up!

Scrooge

I've briefly mentioned that i'm involved in Mystique Theater's production of Scrooge the Musical.
I would like to extend an invitation to all my blogger buddies to come see the show!
Tomorrow's show is $10 with a can of food, though we are running until December 23rd.
Regular admission is $16 and if you want dinner and a show it's $35.
Its possible that another showing will be out $10 deal, but its not for sure.
I'll post later if we do!

Anyway, it's a tender Christmas show to start off your christmas season with and i would love for anyone who's interested to come!

If you have questions..let me know!

Love you.

crazed

Hello.

my life is crazy. and scattered. not to mention fun.

sure, there have been opportunities to blog, but watching tv, sleeping and playing with my family has trumped.

some of what's going on right now:

Dr. Faustus- i made it into this show playing covetousness and helen of troy. we open in 4 weeks. so, crazy.

Alan's new job- he works in the marketing dept. at idaho central. I'm pretty proud of that gent. and pretty impressed with his first out-of-college-job. he is the best.

putting my lab hours in for stagecraft- did i mention i'm pretty great with woodworking? thats a joke. but i do spend some of my free time building sets and doing manual labor for 3 credits.

school- i go to class. nothing new. except that i am really liking how active and interesting my classes are this semester. minus economics.

the nalders came to idaho to play- playing with my neices has been a treat. they are really tender.

so, that's whats up.
i'm not feeling super interesting in a bloggy sort of way....just in the sense that i am busy everyday and i'm really happy with things right now.

29 August 2011

a major change

called: i changed my major.

best decision ever, by the way.

I am now a BA of Theater.

My life goal has been to get myself graced on the broadway stage..or something of that sort. I love musical theater and i so love being center stage with those lights in my eyes.

Long story short, my advisor in music talked all about the big picture and obviously had no grasp of what my big picture is. It became obvious that getting a music degree was not the path i needed to take. I'm not in love with classical voice. I like it, but my strength is belting and i will utilize it.

i cant believe how unbelievably happy i am to be working in the direction i want to be going in. i loved choir in high school and that will always be a part of me. Music in college has been a different story and i'm glad to say goodbye.

so, there it is.
i didnt give up, like i'm sure some of you assumed.
{sorry that you're all miserable with yourselves.}
sometimes you've got to stand up for yourself.
i decided to do what i want for a change, and i'm the better for it.

si.

Byeee

The cast of Cindy Ellen said goodbye yesterday.
I thought a reader's theater would be a little lame, but it was so much fun.
A play even without music is incredible.
The cast was very close and we worked together wonderfully!
I miss it so so bad. I cant wait to be onstage again.
Huz!
Here are some pictures from the show!

My closeup, I realize I'm very attractive.
Behind the scrim. I'm the one with the hat.

Au Cabaret

It was a fantastic run.
I'm going to miss it terribly.
Its safe to say that it was one of the best collegiate experiences I've had.
I might venture to say it has been THE best.
The people I've met and the things I've learned are invaluable.
Here are a few pictures that can hardly show the fun its been.

{Myself and Megan as Sally Bowles}
{Regina, as Fritzy the Gypsy}

Also, I auditioned for a Readers Theatre that ISU Theatre/ Dance is putting on in January. The story is Cindy Ellen (a Cinderella Story) and I got the part of the Stepmother! I am so anxious to get back on stage. I am so so excited for another great theatrical experience!
