December

oh hi.

i'm baaa-ack {I envisioned that really singsongy. I'm sad i cant portray that to you better}

Happy holidays belatedly.. by the way.
I hope your christmas {or whatever} was merry.

I got swallowed up by the remainder of school and the holidays and my new house doesn't have internet. So obviously i have let the blog go.

But i have a house picture or two for you.
Not of the inside though.
It's not ready yet.
Though we do finally have furniture!

But i wanted to share with you the fact that my house looks like a harry potter cottage and i really love that.

yeah, and i really like my porch light, too.

22 feels so good

{my ladies and i}

I had the best birthday of my life this year, if you didnt know.
I ended up celebrating for basically 5 days.

i expected this birthday to majorly suck, being that i had school all day + rehearsal.
but it was so great.

Thursday night i went and karaoke'd with some theater people.
it was a party. i know some pretty awesome people.
{and i won $20.}

Friday was actually a long day.
I had rehearsals and a bunch of homework.
BUT alan and i went to red lobster for my birthday dinner.

I went and partied with my family on saturday.
we went golfing and my mommy took me shopping.
and we had a yummy BBQ dinner.
they made my birthday so special.
i love them so much.

Also, my mom made me this doll cake.
she's the best.

My besties from the music department threw me a surprise party on sunday.
they are awesome. we had margaritas and dinner.
and cake!
they hooked me up. I love those ladies!

My actual birthday was monday so naturally i had to go to school, rehearse and do homework.
i probably celebrated the least of all that day.
But my inlaws took me to buddys {yum}
and there were cupcakes for me at rehearsal.

it feels so good to be loved.

& i really loved this birthday.

06 July 2011

scenes from our holiday

for the 4th we went to a fireworks show, had a barbeque and spent the day at the beach surfing and being bums with our bishops family. it's a special day in virginia because there are so many people here affiliated with the military here. it opened our eyes to see how very proud people are to protect our country.

we are so proud to live in such a wonderful place!

24

It was Al's birthday this last week and we celebrated with a romantic dinner on our balcony.
I decorated with christmas lights, chinese lanterns and tea candles.
We had Olive Garden takeout to accompany some fiery cupcakes.
I cant get away from cupcakes, but i wanted something more mature.
What better than chocolate, strawberries and fire?

I am kindof obsessed with birthdays.

Lovers

On Monday, people will celebrate their love.

This year, I told Alan that I dont want to do presents or anything of that sort.
We had a great Christmas and a wonderful Anniversary.
I think we celebrate the way we love each other everyday.

The only flowers I'll be buying are for my mom, who is a valentines baby.
Love her.

Also, I still have a hard time giving merit to a day that caused me to be sad if i didnt get flowers or candy from a secret admirer or something ridiculous.
When i did get gifts, it was expected thus, not even that cool.
so woof

However,
I would love some Justin Bieber valentines.
Just to be obnoxious:)

Merry New Year

..and that means my 365 photo project will commence here.

I'm not a big resolution person, but I could do with some self betterment.
And besides that, I'm having some high expectations for this year.

I know life will always be hard, but this year has been hard in weird ways.
I'm hoping this resolution below, accompanied by the rest that are in my head until i make it to a piece of paper will find me a lovelier person.

Also, to anyone who I have offended or upset or made feel little, especially this past year, I am sorry. Thats definitely not who I want to be.

I want to Be a more jolly/happy/nice/understanding/forgiving person. {resolution}

Happy new year and love to you all

two thousand {and} ten

It's been good, its been bad and everything in between. It's name is change. We got married, traveled. moved and ate alot of food. We finally got our living conditions under control (kindof) and we've invested even more time and money into "education". Without further ado, I introduce the outgoing year
two thousand {and} ten, yo.
{and yes, I know everyones doing it..I lack creativity. You knew that.}

January:
- We celebrated the new year by doing laundry and going to bed early.
-We started our family on January second.
-We took a honeymoon to vegas and spent all of our winnings ($30) on 4 pounds of candy.
-Shock of being married hits both of us over the head.
-We found out that Alan's APX office would be located in Virginia, Alan's old mission stomping grounds and we'd be moving cross country in May.
February:
-I began my first composition course. I turned out to be decent at it.
-I started feeling more consistently sick and Alan became increasingly worried.
-Arrested Development Obsession.
-I performed Morten Lauriden's Mid Winter Songs.
March:
-March found both of our spirits decently high as we were both surviving in school.
-Spring break happened. And we happened to stay home and clean. We did make it to Provo for some APX training and i hung out with Ali and we went to the Festival of colors. So great:)
-We made our first big credit enhancing purchase..the sex panther, our black Hyundai Sonata.
- Alan's Fraternity put on a successful IdahoBuisnessLeaderOftheYear that Alan had to speak at.
April:
-I went to get tested for being sick always, unfortunately nothing came of it except financail trouble
-I started hanging out with Alexsis more and we brought back hamburger helper night. We bought scentsy's together too.
-Alan gets elected president of his fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi
-I performed the Brahms Requiem

May:
- I passed my Junior standing, a landmark in music education.
-Alan and I drove cross country to Virginia. We left in snow flurries and arrived to 80 degree humidity.
- I ate at my first Buffalo Wild Wings.
-Alan begins selling security. 10 hour days..I become a blogging fiend. Look at the numbers. Ridiculous.
June:
- Our office realizes that it needs to relocate because our apartment complex wouldn't work with our time frame.
-I got a job at Journeys..but wait, we're moving. So I turned it down and blogged some more.
-I put purple in my hair and went to the beach or the pool every day.
-Alexsis came for a visit.
-My body still doesnt feel good, but the beachy air helps
-Alan turns 23. We have a fun little birthday party with cup cakes.
-I become an addict to Pretty Little Liars.
July:
-Spent the fourth of July in DC with our friends. I bought a pair of Toms.
-We Ventured to OBX in North Carolina and Enjoyed the Farmers Market and Gorgeous Beaches
-I begin making headbands to recover some of my sanity.
August:
-The Office moves to Charlottesville and we begin our 2 1/2 stint living in a Hotel
-I got myself super hyped for school to start
-We make the monstrous drive back to Idaho
September:
-School becomes a nightmarish and that's all I will say about that.
-High school swimming starts for Alan. He becomes Century's coach.
-I turned 21.
-Alan got his appendix out.
-I made the cast of Cabaret.
October:
-I begin to post incessant doodles and start thrifting because its more fun that way.
-Blog changed to through her iphone lens....
-We attend a Halloween Party and carved pumpkins
November:
-I find out from reading an article at fitperez.com that what's been making me sick is Gluten.
-Cabaret opens and becomes a favorite memory and a great accomplishment
-Thanksgiving with my family in Idaho Falls.
-I begin to consider changing the direction i'm going with music.
-Alan gets a job working for ISU's marketing.
December:
-I change my major to Bachelor of Arts in Music
-We both survive finals and both come out clear. Alan is set to graduate in the spring and I got the best grades I've ever had in college.
-Alan's sister surprises the family and shows up a few days before christmas with her husband and little girl, Averie.
-We celebrate Christmas eve with my family and christmas with Alan's. It is a truly blessed holiday.

2010...I cant say that im that sad. It's been most difficult. With it came different resposibilities and a change in lifestyle. Alan and I are both looking forward to 2011. Our second year together, and it wont be hard to beat 2010. it will easily be our best year yet.

28 December 2010

still on a Christmas high

It was just so good.
Kinof obsessed.

27 December 2010

sure signs of aging.

Ok, I mean, I'm an immature 21 year old in lots of ways.
I still have a soft spot in my heart for all stuffed animals, and things pink catch my eye. I'm still not above eating soup for breakfast or even laffy taffys (both of which is something that my 10-15 year old self did, and would have continued to do if i didnt wake up exactly 45 minutes before my behind needed to be in a desk chair). I watch cartoons and I dread taking showers.
And yet,

I am old.

Christmas sure showed me.

Instead of holding a grudge against my dad until well past valentines day for making our family do service on christmas eve, I rather enjoyed myself. For the second year in a row, I didnt end up laying in my bed hours after presents were open being emo about what I didnt recieve. ( I thought last year was a fluke because I was getting married days later.) This year, being with family was a huge priority, and at one point I even turned to Alan and told him how happy I was (am). Christmas break is good for the soul. Someone remind me of this post when I get back on here and cry big, black, mascara-ie tears about school. Maybe I can carry some Christmas 2010 with me for the next year and be a big jolly bowl full of jelly.

11 December 2010

Dear Santa,

For Christmas this year, what I really want is some Christmas spirit.
I dont know if its just the whirlwind of school ending, but I've been a little scroogie.
Its not even that i dislike Christmas, I love it so so much!
I just think i need a little help feeling Christmas '10.

Help?

Melissa

Also, some new toms, boots and makeup would be much appreciated..
but Christmas spirit is at the tip toppy of my list.

This holiday weekend was the best yet.
A few of the things we enjoyed:

Making a cute little picnic to eat whilst watching the fireworks.
Eating at potbelly.
Eating yogen frÜz.
Frolicking around Capitol Hill.
The guy selling Obama condoms.
Seeing the fireworks displayed over The District.
Making banana bread muffins. (yum)
Playing Uno and some other awes. game that I can't remember the name of.
Seeing the White House and the Washington Monument in person.
The boys jamming to California Girls....all day long.

The best fourth ever.
I hope all you Bloggerellas had a great holiday as well.

Some Spring Breakage

So like, I'm pretty bad at remembering to take pictures. And also I debate on what anyone would even think is interesting which accounts for poor blogger attendance. Not sure why I still blog, actually. But I find myself here every once in a while with something to report..so here it is: Spring Break Holla! (ok well, its actually over) but spring break was really really great! And there are pictures!

First, we flew to France. This is us at the Eiffel.

Then, we rode rollercoasters! Fun!
Also, we layed on the beach. I got a killer tan!

Mhhm. If you were fooled by that, you either need an eye appointment or an introduction to Mac capabilities. (I mean, Alans parents family room is half of the Eiffel tower. HAHAHA) Obviously we fool around on photo booth and really just stayed home and cleaned our apartment. And I might have been doing some Junior Standing related research or re-watching Juno for the 1000th time. BUT, we did have a blasty blast this week. We DID clean our house and sleep in 'till noon most days. We DID chill(ax) and rent movies. And eventually we got our A's out of town for Alans APX certification in Provo. And I will admit that I have never had a better time in utah..probably. (AAAND, in normal Melissa fashion, there are not many pictures to prove it.)
Alan's training left me with alot of empty hours. Thankfully, the infamous and most dedicated of my readers, Ali K. Walker lives in Provo. So empty hours turned into very full hours.
First and foremost, we busted out them wallets and had ourselves a little shopping spree(ish)
I bought some new vans. How about the color. Tender!

We went to a birthday dinner where we bought eachother a sammy. YUmM!
And then saturday....We went to the festival of colors. WE covered ourselves with chalk and "celebrated variety". I really, really had a great time.

Me and Alan finished off our weekend looking at cars and we found one. I'll leave you peeps in suspense until we go pick it up. Im sure i will supply you with a beautiful, slightly shorter blog.
