upgrade?

I've decided its time to upgrade from my iphone camera to something a little more camera and a little less..phone. Although awesome, I want something that takes good pictures without having to filter it. I've heard that if you're in the market, a Nikon is definitely the one to get.
I was thinking the D3000.

Who's got an opinion, advice or knowledge? I would love to hear it.

  1. I dont know a whole lot about cameras, but I do know that size matters! haha! my husband bought me a nice camera but its huge and i never take any pictures with it bc its to big to carry around all the time. in my opinion, the smaller, the better.

  2. The 3000 is a sweet camera for sure! Coming from a nikon shooter I'll always recommend those ;) I'm thinking about getting the 7000 because it has hd video as well.

  3. Canon and Nikon are the best you can get in my opinion, any others may restrict what lenses you can use. If you want it for both video and photo go with a canon t2i, 7d, 5d mk2 (most videographer's choice) or the 1d mk 4, if you go with a Nikon get a d7000 it's the only Nikon that seems to stand up video-wise. If you don't want video any dslr will work, it's not the equipment it's the photographer. Try some out. The only thing I would keep in mind is lenses, some cameras aren't compatible with cheaper lenses without an expensive adapter.

  4. Canon and Nikon are definitely the best, most versatile brands. I find Nikon to be more intuitive and I like them the most, however, Canons have a quieter shutter (if you're planning on using to take pictures during a performance or do candids).
