Soaring Leap

If you recall..a few months back, I won a Rockstar Diaries Giveaway. The prize was a gift certificate to Lisa Leonard Jewelry, which boasts custom messages of the purchaser's choice. I knew that I definitely wanted to get a ring, but I couldn't think of something meaningful and non cliche that would actually fit on it for the longest time. Thus, the gift certificate sat around for a while. I thought on it for a long time and finally came up with 'soaring leap' from Charles Anthony Silvestri's poem 'Sleep'. I guess i didn't totally avoid cliche, at least from a musical standpoint...but the ring is gorgeous.
I really like the things I own to have a significance, and I really like what soaring leap signifies in my life. I don't really expect you to understand. I'm so bad with words, usually. So i'll leave it at that.

The evening hangs beneath the moon
A silver thread on darkened dune
With closing eyes and resting head
I know that sleep is coming soon

Upon my pillow, safe in bed
A thousand pictures fill my head
I cannot sleep, my mind’s a-flight
And yet my limbs seem made of lead

If there are noises in the night
A frightening shadow, flickering light
Then I surrender unto sleep
Where clouds of dream give second sight

What dreams may come, both dark and deep
Of flying wings and soaring leap
As I surrender unto sleep,
As I surrender unto sleep.
-C.A Silvestri
